To be [€1>$1.40], or not to be [€1<$1.30]?

That is the question.

Time to find out I guess.
Just over $1.40 right now, but will it stay that way this afternoon?

Not tonight, Josephine.

Hi DP

Thanks, I’ve already swapped Ag v Au some time ago. I only keep some nice coins (Perth Mint complete Kookas) as souvenir for my descendants ;)! I don’t have only FG in my mind, unfortunately I also have a small vein for numismatic (yes, stupid maybe) but I really love them, stupid coins!
Before we have Eurolands we will have Swisslands. There are some politicians over
there who plan to bring out coins of .1g and 1g. I have seen the article and I have a link but it’s in German. Over here we are supplied with everything you want. Most of the banks have krugs and maples (not all of them deal with PMs and in that case they have their own dealer to buy from) but banks are more expensive than shops. Bullioninvestor.de is a site with actualised prices for all sort of coins and bars and I prefer them or my own dealer.

Bye

Hi Fauvi,

Sorry to hear you're afflicted with the numismatic virus X> LOL

I am looking forward to being shot of the last of mine in due course and not worrying any more that I'll be stuck with them. As I said, I still have a couple of cupboards full of silver spoons/knives/miscellaneous, but these are going to be harder to get shot of. At least they do have some visual appeal, which the old bullion coins distinctly lacked. Perhaps I will just keep all this junk - it's not going to become worthless, but everything is relative, and you and I both need to think about our little ones too right? :-)

I think nothing we are waiting for is going to happen imminently (but who knows). I still think the back of 2011 is more likely than this Spring (but who knows). I'm with Armstrong - a low in June would be good...

Ciao for now...

Funny, you'd think the hellish turmoil would spawn a run to the "safety" of the $ - but I see that instead €1.40 is back in play as I write.

Uh oh... USDX I just saw at 75.99, while at the same time $1:€1.40.

What's it all about, Alfie?

Is 76 going to give way... or is King Dollar going to get that last-gasp run to around maybe 86 after all...

Until the next gripping installment...

Hi DP!

As your blog does't carry a special unique message (I mean only FG;)), could you please enlighten me about Quigly's (spelling?) intentions? Just curious as I really have no idea why an official simply writes such damn stories. You think that's so easy to disregard? I hope so. I wonder how many kgs can protect a shrimp family in case Q didn't invent his dirty stories. And no, I didn't read his book/s.
And yes, I wake up every day expecting the damn world oligarchy to sink into a big hole next to hell.

Hallo, mein Freund Fauvi.

From Wikipedia:Carroll Quigley: This radical Right fairy tale, which is now an accepted folk myth in many groups in America, pictured the recent history of the United States, in regard to domestic reform and in foreign affairs, as a well-organized plot by extreme Left-wing elements.... This myth, like all fables, does in fact have a modicum of truth. There does exist, and has existed for a generation, an international Anglophile network which operates, to some extent, in the way the Radical right believes the Communists act. In fact, this network, which we may identify as the Round Table Groups, has no aversion to cooperating with the Communists, or any other group, and frequently does so. I know of the operation of this network because I have studied it for twenty years and was permitted for two years, in the early 1960’s, to examine its papers and secret records. I have no aversion to it or to most of its aims and have, for much of my life, been close to it and to many of its instruments. I have objected, both in the past and recently, to a few of its policies... but in general my chief difference of opinion is that it wishes to remain unknown, and I believe its role in history is significant enough to be known.

The people he talks about are simply well intentioned world-improvers. Now, personally, my view is they should leave the world alone because they're not actually improving it! However, I don't see them in quite the same light as a lot of people. In fact, I know some of them, and they are generally just nice people trying to do the right thing. The fact that I perhaps disagree with some of the things they would advocate, well that's what makes the world go around. It's hardly likely that I would agree 100% with anyone all of the time (nor they with me).

Fortunately, most of the actions they take that are adverse to you or I, we can to some extent avoid.

We can choose not to pay their very high taxes to finance their reditributive 'progressive' political aims (I mean entirely legal tax avoidance measures, not illegal tax evasion that will indeed bring down the wrath of the gods on you if you try it, to be clear here).

We can choose not to save our wealth in their fiat money that they also use to quietly steal from us through the inflation tax.

We can choose every so often not to put an X next to their political candidates (if you can find one who doesn't actually think and act like them, that is... most anyone these days that are in politics, was taught and believes pretty much the same things, unfortunately... :-\ ). For the time being at least, this last choice is pretty futile, because nearly everyone around you happily chooses to put their X's in those boxes, because they have also been taught to think the progressive plan is a good idea. Few people are capable of thinking beyond the obvious and expected results, to see also the unintended consequences in the fullness of time. Most people really can't be bothered to think about things if they have any choice in the matter. The 'good' news is that... time heals all things! The consequences will come and will be seen and understood by everyone, all in good time. You and I will be prepared for and are expecting at least some of those consequences, but we have no way to know when they will arrive in full force.

For me, it seems a better use of my limited time and resources to study how I can best avoid the things I see and don't like, and to take action on the findings, than chasing the stories and wondering every morning when I wake up, what they will do to me today?

Returning just for a moment to the main topic of this post... I note that $1:€1.40 appears to me to have been broken, tested, and confirmed. Previous support on the USDX also appears to have been broken and is being tested, at the same time. It is also worthy of note that gold is around all time high levels, and seeking direction.
